What Oklahoma Homeowners Need to Know About Senate Bill 111

If you live outside city limits in Oklahoma, chances are your home depends on a septic system. And when it comes time to install, repair, or replace your septic system, the person doing the work makes all the difference.

A new Oklahoma law, Senate Bill 111 (SB 111), just made it easier for homeowners to feel confident they’re hiring someone who’s properly trained, insured and bonded. Let’s break down what the bill does – and what it means for you.

What Is SB 111?

SB 111 closes a loophole that allowed some individuals to install septic systems without meeting the same certification requirements as others. Before this law, anyone could call themselves a septic installer – even without training or experience.

Now, SB 111 makes sure only properly certified professionals can legally install septic and aerobic systems in Oklahoma.

This matters because your septic system is one of the most important (and expensive!) parts of your home. A poorly installed system can lead to:

  • Health hazards from sewage leaks
  • Property damage
  • Thousands in repair costs
  • Fines for violating state regulations

How Does SB 111 Protect You?

SB 111 strengthens protections for homeowners by:

Requiring proper certification for installers, closing the loophole that let untrained individuals operate in the industry.

Holding contractors accountable by making it easier to track who is doing the work and if they’re qualified.

Reducing the risk of system failure, protecting your family, your property, and your wallet.

Requiring installer bonds, insuring there are financial protections if the installer makes a major mistake or walks away from a problem.

This law raises the bar – and that’s a win for every Oklahoma homeowner!

Not All Installers Are Equal - Choose Experience

While SB 111 is a big step forward, not every company is created equal.

At Cyclone Septics, we’ve been certified, bonded, and insured for years. We’ve installed and maintained thousands of systems across Oklahoma – from simple rural homes to complex aerobic setups.

Our team is:

✅ Fully certified, bonded and trained under DEQ regulations

✅ Backed by real-world experience – we’ve been certified since 2016.

✅ Known for doing things the right way, not the fast way.  We’re the only Oklahoma septic company that has an engineer on staff.

In other words, we were meeting (and exceeding) SB 111 standards long before they became law.
